Joyce Floral School – Introduction
Joyce Floral School is officially certified by the Ohara School of Ikebana, a prestigious institution founded in 1895 that revolutionised the world of Japanese floral art. With the introduction of the Moribana style—“arranging flowers in a water basin”—the Ohara School brought a fresh, naturalistic approach to Ikebana, combining the grace of traditional techniques with the vibrant colours of seasonal and Western flowers.
At Joyce Floral School, we embrace this legacy through both Natural Moribana, which captures the beauty of landscapes within a vessel, and Shikisai Moribana, known for its bold use of colour and expressive compositions. These forms not only respect tradition but also reflect the aesthetics of contemporary living spaces.
Our teaching philosophy follows the Ohara School’s internationally recognised curriculum, allowing students to progress step by step—regardless of their prior experience. From beginners to aspiring instructors, learners will receive structured, supportive guidance rooted in a rational and elegant system.
We are committed to making Ikebana accessible and relevant to everyone. As part of the global Ohara community, we also advocate for the preservation of traditional floral materials and sustainable flower practices. Our aim is not only to teach floral techniques but also to nurture an appreciation for nature, creativity, and cultural heritage.
Join us and discover the timeless art of Ikebana—a journey filled with inspiration, mindfulness, and beauty.

Introductory Course
Learn how to handle flowers and select suitable floral materials — essential skills for all Ikebana styles. This course introduces vertical and slanted arrangements, forming the foundation of the Ohara School.

Deepen your understanding of water as a design element with Kansui-kei. Learn to use different holders like Shippo and explore more advanced forms such as Yoshiki-hon-i, unique to the Ohara School.
Assistant Teacher’s Term I
Master Heika arrangements using vases without holders like Kenzan. You’ll learn Tomegi techniques and how to design expressive works that suit both the material and container.
Assistant Teacher’s Term II
Focus on Shakei Moribana, a hallmark of the Ohara School. Completion of this course qualifies you to apply for the Instructor level — allowing you to open your own certified Ikebana classroom.
